Last week, the Consortium of Cultural Diversity in Chemistry (CCDC) proudly hosted our inaugural Mental Health Week. This initiative aimed to raise awareness, foster support, and encourage open discussions about mental well-being within our community.
Throughout the week, we organized three engaging events that brought joy, creativity, and connection to our members.:
🦮 Paws & Posters
Participants had the chance to relax and recharge by spending time with a therapy dog while contributing to a community poster focused on mental health messages, reflections, and encouragement. It was a heartwarming way to start the week.
🎨 Rock & Magnet Painting for Self-Care
In a peaceful and creative environment, participants painted rocks and magnets with positive messages, vibrant designs, and personal reflections. Each painted stone became a small symbol of resilience and self-expression, serving as a reminder that taking time for ourselves is both valuable and necessary.
🎤 Mental Health Matters: A Talk by CAPS
We’re honored to welcome a guest speaker from the University of Cincinnati’s Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) to discuss the importance of mental health, resources available on campus, and tips for managing stress, especially as graduate students.
Thank you to everyone who participated in and contributed to the success of our first Mental Health Week! A special thank you to Niloufar Yavari and Fatima Anwar, the CCDC Education Chair, for organizing the events, as well as to the other members for their help and support.
